Our families. Our paths.

“I came to PFLAG with a lot of love but also some fear, for my child and my own future. After about 3 meetings the fear had dissipated and I had a new sense of joy. I was so grateful to have found a loving community of people I got to be a part of. Now, I would be devastated not to have a queer child because of the gifts that has brought to me in my life, and discovering that, happened through PFLAG.”  – M.K.

“I immediately found myself surrounded by veteran parents, folks who were not new to this journey. They could reassure me that they knew where I was, that I was not alone, and that the path ahead for my family may be complicated, but it would also be beautiful.”  – A.S.

Our History

PFLAG Sandy Springs is a non-profit 501c3 chapter of PFLAG National that started when participants attending PFLAG Johns Creek support group meetings, speakers, and socials wanted to have meetings more convenient for those living near the Atlanta perimeter.  Support groups for teens and adults started meeting monthly in the community rooms of Congregation Bnai Torah’s synagogue in Sandy Springs.

In July 2019, several participants volunteered to take roles on the new board.  PFLAG Sandy Springs was recognized by national PFLAG as a chapter when the Georgia Secretary of State’s office accepted our registration as a domestic nonprofit corporation in March 2020.

During the 2020/2021 COVID pandemic, PFLAG Sandy Springs pivoted to provide Zoom educational events and  support meetings for teens, LGBTQ adults, and Friends and Family, extending our reach as far away as Mexico and New Zealand. We will continue to provide online support moving forward even when we are able to offer In-Person support meetings as health and safety allow.
